A designer at heart who builds business software
Evolve Engineering is a one-person custom software consultancy in the Fort Lauderdale area of South Florida. I design and build back-office systems that businesses own outright.
I’m Justin Zagar. I was a designer first, fifteen years of it, on paper and on screen, and it shows in everything I build: systems that move with the natural current of a business, screens that make sense at first sight, software people actually want to use.
Then I spent fourteen years inside one company, automating its back office. It started as one small tool to speed up a paper process. Year after year the system absorbed another piece of the work, until nearly everything ran itself.
Evolve Engineering is what that became. Now I do the same for other businesses. One custom system, built around how you already work, owned by you outright, maintained remotely from my desk.
Based in South Florida. On-site engagements across the region.
I ran a design studio, ThumbprintUX, and worked on around fifteen brands across web and print: a law firm, a powder coating shop, tire and wheel retailers, and my own. Long enough to have made every mistake once.
Multi-region work across the corporate site, the employee intranet, print collateral and airport signage. I originated the marketing campaigns that turned the business around: “Just Drive” kicked it off and ran from 2004 through 2008 as a registered Payless service mark.
A wheel business, and I ran it every single day while I automated it. Same instinct, different surface: work out how people actually do the work, then design something that moves with them instead of against them.
The same work, for other businesses. Custom systems designed and built by one person, owned by the client outright, maintained remotely. The fourteen-year system is now the case study.

Confidential by default
Your business stays your business. Confidentiality is the default on every engagement, and if you have an NDA, I’ll sign it.
No client names here
I publish only what a reference check would support; references are available when we talk. That’s why you won’t find client names on this site.
One person, on purpose
The person you talk to is the person who designs it, builds it, and maintains it. I didn’t consult on this from outside. I ran the operation my software automated, for fourteen years.
