BitSift

The article, without everything else.

Reading something on the internet now means dismissing a cookie banner, a newsletter box, an autoplaying video and two ads before you reach the first paragraph. The words you came for are a small fraction of what loaded.

BitSift takes a link and gives you back that fraction, laid out to actually read. It is live at bitsift.app.

What it does

Strips a page back to its content

The article, the recipe, the instructions. Everything built to interrupt you is gone.

Flags text that reads as machine written

It marks passages that look generated, so you know what you are reading before you decide to trust it.

Prints, by email

Email it a link and the cleaned article comes out on paper, properly typeset. That half exists because someone in my house wanted recipes on paper and there was no sensible way to do it.

Runs at the edge

It is deployed across a global network rather than on a server, so it is quick everywhere and costs almost nothing to keep running.

Why I built it

I built the first version because I wanted it, and because the modern web makes a strong argument for itself every single day.

The printing half is my favourite part, because it is the shape of most business automation: a message arrives somewhere, and something has to happen in the real world because of it.

What it proves: A public product with accounts, a database and a real deployment, plus an email-driven workflow. Most business automation is exactly that: something arrives, and something has to happen because of it.
